Talk about a street launch!!!
I'm trying to figure out how they did this STOPPED on what looks like to me...a 4 lane major highway.

If you ever watch that SVTGoat vid, they do their racing on a highway too. I was supprised they could stop traffic like that. That really wouldn't fly here in So Cal... you might get shot.

That's sick. A have a buddy who has a 7 second chevelle that he used to bring down to the races on the streets all the time. It's awesome.

Did they officially shut down that road just for drag races like that or something? You'd think the cops would know about it since there's people all around and the cars are obviously stopped on a major public road.

maybe the road was closed to construction ( like they were rebuilding a bridge)
They usually close off the whole section of the road from exit to exit when they do that ( detour at the beginning, remerge at the end)
They probably took advantage of the closed highway when no construction workers were there and the construction was probably happening miles down the road

its a lot easier then youd think to close down a road for a street race. You just kinda, do, basically. Wait for a little amount of traffic, if there is none, it's better, but then pretty much block the road off, the cars run, everyone leaves and meets back up somewhere else.
I've never done this before officer

We used to do that all the time on US 27. Not quite as big a highway, but late at night most of them are deserted and it's fairly easy to get away with. Big organized street races...everyone races from digs or low rolls and the few cars just passing through just wait a couple minutes until a race finishes and deal with it.

I've seen many videos and one documentary where the racers would block streets..
took time for the cops to find out and show up...

Depending on where it is, it's almost "accepted" sometimes.
I know they ALWAYS let the races go on US27 for a couple hours. Sometimes patrol cars will drive through and ignore everyone. My guess is they figure it's better to turn a blind eye on an empty ass road way the **** out in the boondocks to keep the racing out of the city.

It makes sense, now if only the other cops had this epiphany

What a beast. Hooks like no other. A lot of suspension work must have went in to that.
