v6 Mustang-v8 Lincoln

Hey I was wondering if anyone has done a swap with a '93 Lincoln Mark 8 engine before? I thought since it has the teksid block, and a 4 valve engine, that it might be worth this swap. My friend is selling me the car for really cheap. Any help would be great, thanks

use 2001 (i.e. the year of your car) mustang GT electronics (with some modifications) for the simplest swap
99-04 GT or Cobra electronics would work too
you need to change over to hydroboost brakes and all of the other considerations when swapping in any 4.6 engine

If I'm getting the car for cheap, would it be worth it? I know the 2001+ be easier, but I only have to pay $400 for the car

I had a mark before and it ripped. I figure the best thing to do would to use the mark8 longblock with cobra exhaust and intake manifolds. Probly the oil pan too since they were different

it depends a lot on the condition of that engine. if the car only has 10,000 miles on it then it is a great deal. if the engine has 250,000 miles on it then it won't be worth swapping until you rebuild the engine which will be expensive.

you are going to have to price the other parts that you will need for the build also.

The car only has 250 000 km's. I'm planning on freshening up the block, port and polish the heads, and throw a few performance parts in it. One mechanic I talked to said I could use a GT wiring harness and computer, then re-flash it to work with that engine. I'll just need new cross members, a tranny from a 94-95 GT and a rear end from a 94-04. There's going to be other stuff, but those are the main things that I've been told about

You should further research that tranny from a 94-95 GT statement. I do not think that is correct. As far as I know the only 4.6 that had the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 5.0 was the 91 (and maybe early 92) Lincoln 2 valve engine (i.e. Town Car). All the later ones including Mark VIII have a different bolt pattern, the same as used in 96+ Mustang GT/Cobra

so if one could pick this up for 400 it would be easier for a 96-98 v6er rather then a 99-04?
er if the engine was from a 97.*

Depending on what is wrong with the car. You could swap the engine and tranny. You will have a problem with wiring, which you are on the right track. You will also need a different intake setup, since the car is a 93. The intake will hit the firewall. You shouldn't need new crossmembers, because your car's crossmember will fit modulars. I am unsure if you can use the radiator or fan.

You will probibly have 1000-1500 in parts that you are missing to make this car work.
I am guessing you need:
Mustang GT radiator/fan/overflow
GT harness
ECU
CCRM
GT or Cobra Guage cluster
Hydroboost and lines
Exhaust (midpipe and catback)
Driveshaft
Intake upper and lower
Intake ducting including (Maf should work off the donor)
Pats reprogram

That doesn't sound too bad. I just want to do something different. I don't want to spend a few grand on a swap just to have the same thing as everyone else. I've got a good place to do the swap over the winter, and my car's got 180 000 km's on it, so I want to take the engine out anyways. At first, I was planning on putting a conversion intake on it and throwing a carb on top. But I decided I'd rather spend that money, and put a better fuel injection intake on and get more power
