Error code P0411 ( EGR Flow )

Had this on my car in last days/miles of its warranty (35650). I pulled the EGR, and cleaned it. The EGR works fine. Took it into the dealer here in Beaverton Oregon, 1.5 hrs later the car is returned to me without the ' Service Engine Soon' light on, my odometer miles were not reset nor were my radio presets.

They replaced the DPFE sensor, free of charge. One of the most positive dealer experiences I have ever ha.d

Nope, my 'service engine soon ' light is off, and has stayed that way since last Thurs. It was an easy, painless fix that will not get me any improvements other than turning off the light.

Hello:

I had the same problem with my car but it is no longer under warranty. Could you please tell me what the DPFE sensor is? Does anyone know how much it costs?

Thanks,

Nelson

I traced the vacumn lines from the engine to the DPFE sensor which feeds the EGR valve. My guess is that it senses the amount of EGR flow by the amount of vacumn it allows to actuate the EGR. Mine was not allowing any vacumn to the EGR. Regarding cost, first I would drive to a friendly Ford dealer and ask the service department if it could be covered, some EPA systems have a much longer warrenty then the rest of the car, if you get sorry guy answer, visit their parts dept. The install is a snap, one bolt on a engine bracket, 2 vacumn lines and 1 electrical connection...at least on my 2001.

Hope this helps

DPFE Sensor = Differential Pressure Feedback Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor. It is located in the rear center of the engine compartment, behind the EGR solenoid.

If you've got a 1994-1999 Ford Mustang Haynes Repair Manual, look at page 6-19. If you don't have a Haynes manual, get one.
