EBay "Performance Chips"

From 3.8Wiki

I've seen several posts regarding the $10, $20, $30, etc. "performance chips" popping up occasionally... lets take a couple minutes to explain what they are, and what they are not.

These chips are a resistor that is used in place of the IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor that reads the incoming air right at or right after the MAF. It fools the EEC to think that the air incoming is cooler than it actually is and changes the fuel mixture.

In reality it's not a chip, it will not add 20hp, and it's not worth the more than a quarter since the resistor is available at your local Radio Shack store. It will actually not add any negligable horsepower at all after EEC "adjusts" to the fake temperature.

Save your money... it's not a chip.... it's a gimmick.
